I believe I mentioned this a while ago, but finally this Tuesday I was able to set up my first plasma donation. It went well, overall, although halfway through I made the slightest move, which was just enough to knock the needle out. The phlebotomist had to switch to my other arm which made her very nervous as I have very small, baby veins. Now, what she thought was my stronger arm is bruised, so the smaller vein will have to do as I have a follow up appointment today in just a couple hours. I'm going to talk to them today to see if I should continue the donations; the woman who stuck me Tuesday mentioned under her breath to another tech that I probably shouldn't have passed the exam with such small veins. But it sure feels good to finally have some cash in my wallet!
And the best part is, I'm saving lives!

I wonder if you drank a lot of water before you donated if that would help with your veins. I know I drink a lot of water and the techs who draw my blood "love it" because my veins just stick right out there. hoping it can work out for you......
(about the picture on my blog, its from where we used to live in So. Calif. up until last May; its Laguna Beach - we lived about 10 miles from it, 6 miles from the beach; now we are more inland, about 45 miles away)
enjoy the weekend

Nice. One of my very best friends was asking me about donating plasma just a few weeks ago. I will refer her to this post.
Props for doing something that is so needed.
